5 people from Bradford charged with drug offences after 180 kilos found at Birmingham Airport
Five individuals from Bradford have been charged with drug offences following the discovery of 180 kg of controlled substances at Birmingham Airport.
The arrests were made after Border Force officers stopped a group of men who were acting suspiciously as they prepared to board a flight to Pakistan.
A search of their luggage revealed cocaine, heroin and cannabis with an estimated street value of £18 million.
The five men, aged between 21 and 43, have been charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and are due to appear in court later this week.
The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking between the UK and Pakistan.
The National Crime Agency and West Yorkshire Police are working together to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for this criminal activity.
This is a significant seizure of drugs and has prevented a large quantity of harmful substances from reaching our streets.
The NCA is committed to working with partners to disrupt and dismantle organized crime groups involved in drug trafficking.
We will continue to investigate and prosecute those responsible for bringing these dangerous drugs into the UK.
Anyone with information about drug smuggling or other criminal activity is urged to contact the NCA or Crimestoppers.
