Aribo targets Hoops heroics as he eyes Ibrox exit

Super Eagles star determined to leave lasting legacy in Glasgow before sealing summer switch to the Premier League

Celtic clash could be Aribo's final outing in Scotland

Joe Aribo is targeting a memorable Ibrox exit by firing Rangers to Scottish Cup glory before sealing his summer switch to the Premier League. The Nigeria international is poised to leave Glasgow at the end of the season when his contract expires. And he admits the thought of signing off in style by beating Celtic in the showpiece final on May 27 would be the perfect send off. Aribo said: "It would be amazing to win the Scottish Cup and how good would it be if I could score in front of the Rangers fans once more? "It's every player's dream to finish their time at a club with a trophy and it has been a good season for us. "The fans have been brilliant with me from the moment I arrived. Every time I play, I want to show them what they mean to me so that, if it is my last game, they know I have given everything for the badge." Aribo could make his final Rangers appearance in front of his own fans on Sunday when Ange Postecoglou's title winners visit Govan. The 25-year-old insists he can still play a part in the run-in despite opening talks with several English clubs over a summer move. He said: "There is a lot of speculation but I'm happy to stay focused on Rangers and help us finish the season as strongly as possible. "I'm happy to play my part, even if that is coming off the bench, because this is a great squad with a lot of quality in it. "All I can do is make myself available to the team and if I get the chance, I will be ready to give 100 per cent." Steven Gerrard's side could open up a six-point lead over their rivals at the top of the table by beating Celtic while also reducing the Hoops' game in hand to just one. And Aribo insists they are determined to take advantage after ending their Old Firm hoodoo with victory at Parkhead in February. He said: "That was such a good feeling for both the players and the fans. "We knew it was a big moment and we responded well to the pressure. Now we need to do it all again. "Celtic are playing really well but it's up to us to stop them. We are full of confidence at the moment and we want to show that in the game. "Beating Celtic again would put us in a really strong position in the title race. "We would be one step closer to the title and that would be huge for us."
