Attorney General Jackley's Statement

On Monday, South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit that accused President Donald Trump of inciting the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

In the motion, Ravnsborg argued that the lawsuit was "politically motivated" and that there was "no evidence" to support the claims against Trump.

Ravnsborg also argued that the lawsuit was an attempt to "distract from the real issues facing the country" and that it was "a waste of time and resources."

The Lawsuit Against Trump

The lawsuit against Trump was filed by a group of Democratic lawmakers in January 2021.

The lawsuit alleged that Trump incited the January 6th attack on the Capitol by making false claims about the election and by encouraging his supporters to "fight like hell" to overturn the results.
