Australia set to face Saudi Arabia in FIFA World Cup qualification play-off
Hervé Renard's Saudi Arabia will face Tony Popovic's Australia in a one-off play-off for a place at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.

The Socceroos are the most successful team in the history of the AFC Asian Cup, winning the tournament four times, most recently in 2015. They have also reached the knockout stages of the FIFA World Cup on four occasions, most recently in 2018.

Saudi Arabia: Eyeing first World Cup appearance since 2018
Saudi Arabia is aiming to reach the FIFA World Cup for the sixth time. They first qualified for the tournament in 1994 and have since reached the knockout stages twice, in 1994 and 2006.
Hervé Renard was appointed as head coach of Saudi Arabia in July 2019. Under his leadership, the team has won the 2019 AFC Asian Cup and qualified for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
