Investigation launched at Blair Drummond Safari Park

A baby red panda has died ‘from stress’ during fireworks night – days after her mother’s tragic death.

The female cub, named Mishko, was discovered dead in her enclosure at Blair Drummond Safari Park on Saturday morning, just hours after a fireworks display was held nearby.

Her death comes just days after her mother, Nima, was found dead in her enclosure from suspected head injuries.

An investigation has been launched into Mishko’s death, but it is believed that she died from stress caused by the fireworks.

Fireworks can be very loud and frightening for animals, and can cause them to panic and injure themselves.

A spokesperson for Blair Drummond Safari Park said: “We are deeply saddened to announce the death of our baby red panda, Mishko.

“Mishko was discovered dead in her enclosure on Saturday morning, just hours after a fireworks display was held nearby.

“An investigation into her death is underway, but it is believed that she died from stress caused by the fireworks.

“Fireworks can be very loud and frightening for animals, and can cause them to panic and injure themselves.

“We would like to remind the public to be mindful of the impact that fireworks can have on animals, and to avoid setting them off near wildlife areas.”

Tips for keeping your pets safe from fireworks

* Keep your pets indoors during fireworks displays. * Close all windows and curtains to block out the noise and light. * Provide your pet with a safe place to hide, such as a crate or carrier. * Play calming music or white noise to help mask the sound of fireworks. * Stay calm and reassuring around your pet. * If your pet is showing signs of stress, such as panting, pacing, or hiding, talk to your veterinarian about medication that can help to calm them down.
