Blue Jays' Bo Bichette not ready to pull curtain down on '22 season

Speedy infielder still rehabbing from dislocated shoulder that landed him on injured list August 5

Bichette's rehab assignment has been slowed by continued discomfort in injured joint

TORONTO -- The Toronto Blue Jays' Bo Bichette is not ready to pull the curtain down on his 2022 season just yet, but the speedy infielder is still rehabbing from a dislocated left shoulder that landed him on the injured list on August 5th. Bichette's rehab assignment has been slowed by continued discomfort in his injured shoulder, but he is hopeful that he will be able to return to the lineup before the end of the season.

"I'm taking it day by day," Bichette said on Wednesday. "I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm doing everything I can to get back on the field as soon as possible."

Bichette was injured on a hard slide into second base against the Boston Red Sox on July 29th. He initially tried to play through the pain, but he was eventually placed on the injured list on August 5th. Bichette began a rehab assignment with the Triple-A Buffalo Bisons on August 20th, but the discomfort in his shoulder forced him to return to Toronto.

The Blue Jays are currently in a wild card race, and Bichette's return would be a major boost to their lineup. The 24-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in baseball, and he is a key part of the Blue Jays' future.

"Bo is a huge part of this team," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider. "We're not going to rush him back, but we're excited to get him back on the field when he's ready."

Bichette is hopeful that he will be able to return to the lineup before the end of the season, but he is not putting a timetable on his recovery.

"I'm just taking it day by day," Bichette said. "I'm not sure when I'll be back, but I'm doing everything I can to get back on the field as soon as possible."
