Chelsea leave quartet at home as Sonia Bompastor rotates for Celtic Women's Champions League clash

Chelsea head coach Sonia Bompastor has left a quartet of players at home for the Women's Champions League clash with Celtic.

The Blues boss has made four changes to the squad that started the 1-0 win over Manchester United in the Women's Super League on Sunday.

Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, defender Jess Carter, midfielder Erin Cuthbert and forward Fran Kirby have all been left out of the traveling party.

Berger is still recovering from a hand injury, while Carter is nursing a knock. Cuthbert and Kirby are both being rested ahead of Chelsea's clash with Arsenal in the WSL on Sunday.

In their place, Bompastor has brought in goalkeeper Emily Ramsey, defender Alsu Abdullina, midfielder Niamh Charles and forward Lauren James.

The Blues will be looking to make a winning start to their Champions League campaign when they take on Celtic at Parkhead on Thursday night.

The Scottish champions will be no pushovers, but Chelsea will be confident of victory if they can play to their potential.

The match will be live on BT Sport 3 from 7.45pm.
