CT 2025: PCB pens letter to ICC after India refuses to travel, says `we will not be accepting a hybrid model`
PCB requests ICC to postpone CT 2025 due to India's stance
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has written a letter to the International Cricket Council (ICC) requesting them to postpone the Champions Trophy 2025. This comes after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) refused to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.
In the letter, PCB chairman Najam Sethi expressed his disappointment over India's decision and said that the PCB will not be accepting a hybrid model for the tournament. He also stated that the PCB is willing to host the tournament in a neutral venue if required.
PCB prepares for alternative options
The PCB has been preparing for alternative options in case India does not agree to travel to Pakistan. They have already shortlisted a few venues in the Middle East and are in talks with the respective cricket boards.
The PCB is also considering hosting the tournament in two parts. The group stage could be held in Pakistan, while the knockout stage could be held in a neutral venue. However, this option is still under discussion.
Tournament may face postponement or cancellation
If the ICC does not agree to postpone the tournament, it could face postponement or even cancellation. The ICC is expected to make a decision on the matter in the coming weeks.
The Champions Trophy is a major ICC event and its postponement or cancellation would be a big blow to the sport. It would also be a major setback for the PCB, which has been working hard to revive international cricket in Pakistan.
