Darts star Wright back to plumbing after second round win
Scotsman beats Van Tricht to reach last 16 at Ally Pally
But world number one will return to day job before quarter-final
Peter Wright beat Dutch rival Jermaine Van Tricht 4-2 to reach the third round of the PDC World Darts Championship at Alexandra Palace on Tuesday.
The world number one, who is nicknamed Snakebite, hit four 180s and landed 57 percent of his darts at a double during the contest.
However, Wright will now have to return to his day job as a plumber before he plays his quarter-final match on Thursday.
"I've got to go back to work now," Wright said. "I'm a plumber, so I've got to go and do a couple of jobs."
The 49-year-old, who won the world title in 2020, is one of the most popular players on the PDC circuit and is known for his colorful Mohawk hairstyle and eccentric stage persona.
Wright has been in impressive form in recent months, winning two Players Championship events and reaching the semi-finals of the World Grand Prix.
He will be one of the favorites to win the World Championship this year, but he will have to overcome some tough opponents in the latter stages of the tournament.
In the third round, Wright will face either Damon Heta or Ross Smith.
The quarter-finals will be played on Thursday, with the semi-finals taking place on Friday and the final on Sunday.
