Eagles Injury Report: Roster Spot Opened for OL's Return; Four Banged-Up Starters Practiced
Four Starters Practiced
Four banged-up starters practiced for the Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday, including quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was limited with a sprained shoulder. Also practicing were wide receiver A.J. Brown (ankle), cornerback Darius Slay (forearm), and defensive tackle Fletcher Cox (calf). Hurts is expected to start Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, while the status of Brown, Slay, and Cox is uncertain.
Roster Spot Opened
The Eagles opened up a roster spot on Wednesday by waiving injured offensive lineman Josh Sills. Sills, who started the first two games of the season at left guard, has been dealing with an ankle injury. The Eagles signed offensive lineman Sua Opeta to take Sills' spot on the roster. Opeta has started 11 games in his career, including two for the Eagles last season.
Key Players Expected to Return
The return of Brown, Slay, and Cox would be a big boost for the Eagles, who are currently 1-2 on the season. Brown is the team's leading receiver, while Slay is one of their best cornerbacks. Cox is a three-time Pro Bowler and one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL.
Hurts Expected to Start
Hurts is expected to start Sunday's game against the Cowboys despite his sprained shoulder. Hurts injured his shoulder in the Eagles' Week 2 loss to the Vikings. He missed the Eagles' Week 3 win over the Commanders but returned to practice this week. Hurts is expected to be limited in practice this week, but he is expected to start on Sunday.
Other Injury Updates
In addition to the four starters who practiced on Wednesday, the Eagles also had several other players who were injured. Defensive end Brandon Graham (hip), linebacker T.J. Edwards (hamstring), and wide receiver DeVonta Smith (groin) were all limited in practice. Running back Miles Sanders (ankle) and cornerback Avonte Maddox (hamstring) did not practice.
