European tour wraps up the Race to Dubai. Nelly Korda returns to LPGA
Race to Dubai
Rory McIlroy made a 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to win the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai and secure the Race to Dubai for the fourth time. McIlroy finished the tournament at 19-under 269, one stroke ahead of Jon Rahm.
The victory was McIlroy's third of the season and his 23rd on the DP World Tour. It also moved him to No. 1 in the world rankings.
McIlroy sank a 25-foot birdie putt on the 13th hole to take the lead for good. He then made pars on the next four holes before making the winning putt on the 18th.
Rahm, who needed to win the tournament to have a chance at winning the Race to Dubai, finished with a 67. He made a birdie on the 18th hole to finish one stroke behind McIlroy.
McIlroy's victory was a fitting end to a season in which he has been the dominant player on the DP World Tour. He has won three tournaments, including the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai and has finished in the top 10 in 11 of his 17 starts.
Nelly Korda returns to LPGA
Nelly Korda is set to make her return to the LPGA Tour at the Pelican Women's Championship. Korda has not played since she withdrew from the CME Group Tour Championship in November with a back injury.
Korda is a two-time major champion and the current world No. 1. She has won four tournaments on the LPGA Tour this season, including the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.
Korda's return is a boost for the LPGA Tour, which has been without its top player for the past few months. Korda is one of the most popular players on tour and her presence is sure to draw fans to the Pelican Women's Championship.
