Everton and Liverpool news: England - Branthwaite out and Quansah in
Branthwaite and Quansah international call ups
Two Merseyside youngsters have received call ups to the England Under-21s and Under-19s, as preparations for this summer's European Championships begin.
Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite has been called up to the Under-21 squad, while Liverpool defender Billy Quansah has been selected for the Under-19s.
Branthwaite, 20, has been in excellent form for Everton this season, making 15 appearances in all competitions and showing a maturity beyond his years.
Quansah, 19, has also been in good form for Liverpool's youth teams this season, and his call-up is a testament to his progress.
England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley said:
"Jarrad is a player who has impressed me with his performances for Everton in recent months.
"He is a versatile defender who can play in a number of positions, and he has the physical and technical attributes to be a success at international level.
"I am looking forward to working with him in the coming months and seeing what he can bring to the team."
England Under-19 manager Ian Foster said:
"Billy is a player who has been on our radar for some time now, and he deserves his call-up to the Under-19s.
"He is a tall, athletic defender with a good range of passing, and he has the potential to be a valuable member of our team."
England Under-21s will face Romania, Albania and Switzerland in their Euro 2023 qualifying group, while England Under-19s will face Israel, Romania and Kazakhstan in their Euro 2024 qualifying group.
