FIRST ALERT FORECAST: Showers Linger Sunday, Drier by Monday

Showers Scattered Across Southern New England

Showers have lingered across Southern New England for the first half of Sunday as a cold front slides through the region. While most of the rain has been light and scattered, a few areas have picked up some heavier downpours.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for several counties in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, including Bristol, Plymouth, and Norfolk counties in Massachusetts; Providence and Kent counties in Rhode Island; and New London and Windham counties in Connecticut.

Drier Conditions Move In Monday

The cold front is expected to move off the coast by Monday morning, bringing drier conditions to the region. High pressure will build in from the west, providing mostly sunny skies and comfortable temperatures for the start of the new week.

Temperatures on Monday will be in the low 70s, with plenty of sunshine. A light breeze will be out of the west at 5-10 mph.

Looking Ahead

The dry weather is expected to continue through the middle of the week, with temperatures gradually warming into the mid 70s by Wednesday.

Another cold front is expected to approach the region on Thursday, bringing a chance for showers and thunderstorms. The front is not expected to be as strong as the one that brought the rain on Sunday, but there is still a chance for some wet weather.
