Halesowen man one of six arrested after 180kg of cocaine found at airport
Six men have been arrested after 180kg of cocaine with a street value of £16m was seized at Heathrow Airport.
The drugs were found in a shipment of fruit and vegetables that had arrived on a flight from Colombia.
The six men, aged between 24 and 52, were arrested at the airport and in raids in London and the West Midlands.
They have been charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and are due to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
The National Crime Agency (NCA) said the seizure was one of the largest ever made at Heathrow Airport.
NCA branch commander Steve McIntyre said: "This was a significant seizure of cocaine and has prevented a substantial amount of Class A drugs from reaching the streets of the UK.
"We are working closely with our partners to target the organised crime groups involved in drug trafficking and bring them to justice."
