HEAT SET FOR SIXERS | Wrigley Into Squad
Fresh impetus for Brisbane’s latest member
Heat are set to give debutant Lachlan Wrigley a baptism of fire in Thursday night's clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
The former North Adelaide product was recruited with pick No.34 in last year's NAB AFL Draft and has forced his way into the senior side after impressing in the VFL.
Wrigley: Ready to go
Wrigley, 19, said he was excited about the opportunity to make his AFL debut.
"It's a bit surreal at the moment, to be honest," Wrigley told the club website.
"I've been working hard for this moment, so I'm just really excited to get out there and play my role for the team."
Wrigley is a versatile defender who can play on either flank or as a small forward.
He has averaged 24 disposals and seven marks in his five VFL games this season.
Heat coach Chris Fagan said Wrigley had earned his chance at AFL level.
"He's a very talented young player who has shown great composure and decision-making in the VFL," Fagan said.
"We're confident he can make a positive contribution to our team."
Wrigley will become Heat's sixth debutant for the season, following Will Day, Conor McKenna, Tom Fullarton, Darcy Fort and Jaxon Prior.
