Martin, Baptiste Capture Jamaica's 100m Hurdles Titles
Martin Dominates Women's Race
Megan Martin of Canada powered to victory in the women's 100m hurdles at the Jamaican Athletics Championships on Friday, clocking a time of 12.53 seconds.
Martin, who finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics last year, surged ahead from the start and maintained her lead throughout the race.
World Championships bronze medalist Britany Anderson of Jamaica finished second in 12.75 seconds, while her compatriot Danielle Williams took third in 12.82 seconds.
Baptiste Wins Close Men's Race
Rasheed Broadbelt of Jamaica crossed the line first in the men's 100m hurdles, but was later disqualified for a lane infringement.
The victory went to Shane Brathwaite of Barbados, who ran a time of 13.27 seconds, just ahead of Jamaica's Orlando Bennett in 13.28 seconds.
Baptiste, who won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships, finished third in 13.38 seconds.
Jamaican Sprinters Shine
The Jamaican Athletics Championships featured several impressive performances from the country's top sprinters.
Reigning Olympic 100m champion Elaine Thompson-Herah won the women's 200m in 22.02 seconds, while Yohan Blake took the men's 100m in 9.85 seconds.
The championships served as a key preparation event for the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA, from July 15-24.
