Musselburgh Eatery Named Best Chip Shop in East of Scotland

A Musselburgh eatery has been named the best chip shop in the east of Scotland.

The Wee Chippy on North High Street was awarded the title at the Fish & Chip Shop of the Year Awards 2023.

The awards are organised by Seafish, the public body that supports the UK seafood industry.

The Wee Chippy was praised for its "excellent" fish and chips, as well as its "friendly" service.

The judges said:

"The Wee Chippy is a worthy winner of this award. Their fish and chips are simply excellent, and their service is friendly and welcoming."

The Wee Chippy is a family-run business that has been serving the Musselburgh community for over 30 years.

Owner Tony Contarino said: "We are absolutely delighted to have won this award. It is a testament to the hard work of our team and the quality of our fish and chips."

The Wee Chippy is one of four Scottish chip shops to be shortlisted for the national Fish & Chip Shop of the Year Awards 2023.

The other three shortlisted chip shops are:

• The Bay Fish & Chip Restaurant, Stonehaven
• The Fishmarket, Anstruther
• The Pierhead, Stromness
