Roma Eyes Türkiye's National Team Coach Vincenzo Montella

Montella a Target for Roma

Serie A club Roma is reportedly interested in appointing Vincenzo Montella as their new manager. Montella, who is currently the coach of the Turkish national team, has a wealth of experience in Italian football, having previously managed Fiorentina, AC Milan, and Sampdoria.

Roma are on the lookout for a new manager after Jose Mourinho left the club at the end of the 2022/23 season. Montella is one of several candidates who have been linked with the role, along with Luis Enrique and Roberto Mancini.

Montella's Career

Montella began his managerial career with Roma's youth team in 2009. He was appointed manager of Fiorentina in 2012 and led the club to the Coppa Italia final in his first season. He also guided Fiorentina to the semi-finals of the Europa League in 2015.

Montella joined AC Milan in 2016 and won the Supercoppa Italiana in his first season. He was sacked in 2017 after a poor run of results. Montella then had a brief spell in charge of Sevilla before taking over as manager of Sampdoria in 2018.

Montella was appointed manager of the Turkish national team in 2021. He has led the team to qualification for the 2024 European Championship.

Montella's Style of Play

Montella is known for his attacking style of play. His teams typically play with a high tempo and press their opponents high up the pitch. Montella's teams also play with a lot of width and creativity.

Montella's style of play has been praised by many pundits. He is seen as one of the most exciting young managers in football.

Will Montella Join Roma?

It remains to be seen whether Montella will join Roma. The Turkish Football Federation is keen to keep him in charge of the national team, and Montella himself has said that he is happy in his current role.

However, Roma are a big club with a rich history, and the chance to manage them may be too tempting for Montella to resist.
