Rose d'Or 2024 Nominees Announced
Content of the Year
Public-service broadcaster SVT in Sweden has gotten two nominations in this category for the documentaries Children's Hospital and ABBA: The Last Concert. Real Fake by VPRO in the Netherlands is also nominated, as is The Fifth Column by Plural Entertainment and RTVE in Spain, and Woman on the Run: The Lawless Life of Vicky Pryce by Raw Television and Channel 4 in the UK.
One of three nominees for the Studio71US-produced Kids vs. Climate Crisis with John Oliver is the only American production to be represented in the category. The other two nominees are Israeli productions The Tinder Swindler by Limor Prosor and the Keshet Broadcasting company, and Japanese series The Makanai: Cooking for the Maiko House by Netflix.
Comedy
Four British productions and one each from France and Belgium have been nominated in the comedy category. The nominees from the UK are Bloods by Roughcut Television and Sky, Dreaming Whilst Black by Expectation Entertainment, Jerk by Roughcut Television, Sorry by Boffola Pictures and Ted Lasso by Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.
En thérapie by Arte France and La Meute by Be-Films, both French productions, are also nominated alongside Belgian series Unseen by De Mensen.
Drama
The only British production among the five nominees for drama series is the BBC's Sherwood by House Productions. It is nominated alongside The Cleaning Lady by Warner Bros. Television, The Kingdom Exodus by DR and Miso Film, The Responder by Dancing Ledge Productions, and Tokyo Vice by HBO Max and Endeavor Content.
Factual
The Rose d'Or for Factual has been awarded to true-crime documentaries and series in recent years. Three of the five 2024 nominees continue the trend, including Catching a Serial Killer: Bruce McArthur by Blue Ant Studios, The Suspect: Vanished in the Night by Red Arrow Studios International, and Unveiled: Looking for Grace by TVNZ.
The other two nominees are the four-part series Life and Death in the Warehouse by Work in Progress Productions and Sky Studios, and The Elon Musk Show by Imagine Documentaries and Channel 4.
Arts
Four of the five nominees for Arts have a musical bent, including Björk: Sonic Symbolism by Little Mountain Films, Finding Kendrick Lamar by Showtime Documentary Films, In Our Hands: The Battle for Jerusalem by Journeyman Pictures, and Rocío: Dreaming of a New Day by Unicorn Content.
The only factual program is The Volcano: Rescue from Whakaari by NHNZ and Great Southern Television, which tells the story of the deadly eruption on New Zealand's White Island.
History and Biography
The two nominees for History and Biography are 1971: The Year Music Changed Everything by BBC Studios Documentary Unit and Louis Theroux Interviews...Stormzy by BBC Studios.
Reality & Competition
There are five nominees for Reality & Competition this year: The Great British Bake Off by Love Productions, Lego Masters USA by Endemol Shine North America, Love Island (UK) by ITV Studios, MasterChef Australia: Fans and Favourites by Shine Australia, and The Voice Australia 2022: The Live Shows by ITV Studios Australia.
Entertainment
Shows from Australia, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, the United States, and Sweden are among the five nominees for Entertainment. They are Eurovision: Come Together by BBC Studios and Livewire Pictures, The Graham Norton Show by So Television, LOL: Last One Laughing Canada by Just For Laughs and Amazon Prime Video, The Late Night Show with James Corden by Fulwell 73 and CBS Studios, and Masked Singer: The Secret Behind the Mask by Warner Bros. International Television Production.
Music
Only two nominations were received for Music: ABBA Voyage by Universal Music Group and BBC Studios, and This Is Pop by BBC Studios Music and Universal Music Group.

The final category, Podcast, has five nominees: Conspiracy Theories by BBC Radio 4, Floodlines by Floodlines, History Hit by Wondery, The Missing Cryptoqueen by BBC Sounds, and Unheard: The Story of Laura Rumbelow by Tortoise Media.
