South Africa vs India: Underperforming Hardik Pandya Fails to Impress in 20-Over Clash
Pandya's Poor Form Continues as Proteas Secure Comprehensive Victory
All-Rounder's Batting and Bowling Disappoint in Cape Town Defeat
The South Africa national cricket team extended their winning streak against India in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) with a convincing eight-wicket victory in Cape Town on Saturday.
Despite a fighting half-century from opener Ishan Kishan, India's batting lineup struggled to post a competitive total, managing only 149 for five in their allotted 20 overs.
In reply, South Africa chased down the target with ease, reaching 151 for two with 16 balls to spare.
Hardik Pandya, India's star all-rounder, once again failed to live up to expectations, scoring just 14 runs off 12 balls and conceding 29 runs in his two overs of bowling.
Pandya's poor form continues a worrying trend for the Indian team, who have now lost three consecutive T20I matches.
The defeat raises questions about Pandya's place in the team, especially with the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) auction just around the corner.
Pandya was retained by the Kolkata Knight Riders for a whopping Rs 11.5 crore ahead of the 2023 IPL season.
However, his recent performances suggest that he may not be worth the hefty price tag.
Former India cricketer Ramandeep Singh has been critical of Pandya's recent form, saying that he needs to "show more hunger and determination" if he wants to retain his place in the team.
