Environment Canada issues wind warning for region
Winds expected to reach 90 km/h in some areas
Environment Canada has issued a wind warning for much of midwestern Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area. The warning is in effect from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
Winds are expected to reach 90 km/h in some areas, with gusts of up to 120 km/h possible. The strongest winds are expected overnight and into Wednesday morning.
The wind warning is in effect for the following areas:
- Bruce County
- Dufferin County
- Grey County
- Halton Region
- Huron County
- Lambton County
- Middlesex County
- Oxford County
- Peel Region
- Perth County
- Simcoe County
- Wellington County
- York Region
Environment Canada is advising residents to be prepared for power outages and other disruptions. Loose objects should be secured, and people should avoid driving in high winds.
The wind warning is expected to end on Wednesday morning. However, Environment Canada says that winds will remain strong into the afternoon.
