SVCC President Dr. Al Roberts has been invited to participate in the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, which will be held in Washington, DC, on September 28, 2022.

The conference will bring together leaders from across the country to discuss the issue of hunger in America and to develop solutions to address it. Dr. Roberts will be participating in a panel discussion on the role of community colleges in addressing food insecurity.

“I am honored to have been invited to participate in this important conference,” said Dr. Roberts. “Hunger is a serious problem in our country, and it is one that we must all work together to solve. I am committed to working with other leaders to find solutions that will help to ensure that all Americans have access to healthy, affordable food.”

The White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health is the first of its kind in more than 50 years. The conference is part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s National Strategy on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health, which aims to end hunger and food insecurity in the United States by 2030.

In addition to Dr. Roberts, other participants in the conference will include President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. The conference will also feature a keynote address by celebrity chef José Andrés.

SVCC is committed to addressing the issue of food insecurity in its communities. The college offers a number of programs and services to help students and community members access healthy, affordable food. These programs include the SVCC Food Pantry, the SVCC Community Garden, and the SVCC Cooking Club.

Dr. Roberts’ participation in the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health is a testament to SVCC’s commitment to addressing this important issue. The college is proud to be a part of the national conversation on hunger and food insecurity, and we are committed to working with other leaders to find solutions that will help to end hunger in America.
