The Live-Action "The Little Mermaid" is Here
Disney Drops Teaser Trailer for the Upcoming Live-Action Fairy Tale
Coming to Theaters on May 26th, 2023
The official trailer for the live-action adaptation of the classic animated film, "The Little Mermaid," has been released. The teaser features a haunting rendition of the iconic song, "Part of Your World," and gives fans a glimpse of Halle Bailey as Ariel.
The trailer opens with a shot of the ocean's surface, before panning down to reveal Ariel swimming through a coral reef. Bailey's voiceover can be heard singing, "I want to be where the people are." The trailer then cuts to a series of shots of Ariel exploring the human world, including a scene where she meets Prince Eric (Jonah Hauer-King).
The trailer also features a brief glimpse of Ursula (Melissa McCarthy), the sea witch who steals Ariel's voice. McCarthy's Ursula is a far cry from the cartoonish villain of the animated film, and instead appears more menacing and sinister.
The live-action "The Little Mermaid" is directed by Rob Marshall and written by David Magee. The film stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Javier Bardem as King Triton, and Awkwafina as Scuttle.
The live-action "The Little Mermaid" is set to be released in theaters on May 26th, 2023.
