Timberwolves Top Trail Blazers 113-106 in Overtime Thriller
Minnesota Rallies from 15-Point Deficit to Secure Victory
Anthony Edwards Leads the Charge with 32 Points
The Minnesota Timberwolves pulled off a dramatic overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at the Moda Center.
Trailing by 15 points in the third quarter, the Timberwolves mounted a furious comeback to force overtime. Anthony Edwards led the charge for Minnesota, scoring a game-high 32 points, including 10 in the extra period.
Karl-Anthony Towns added 26 points and 14 rebounds, while D'Angelo Russell contributed 19 points and 8 assists for the Timberwolves. Damian Lillard led the Blazers with 28 points, but it wasn't enough to prevent the loss.
Timberwolves' Defense Shines in Overtime
The Timberwolves' defense stepped up in overtime, holding the Blazers to just six points. Edwards was particularly impressive on the defensive end, with three steals and a block in the extra period.
Rudy Gobert also played a key role in the win, finishing with 12 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks. His presence in the paint helped to deter the Blazers from driving to the rim.
Trail Blazers Struggle from Three-Point Range
The Blazers struggled from three-point range throughout the game, shooting just 27.3% from beyond the arc. This was a key factor in their loss, as they rely heavily on outside shooting.
Anfernee Simons was the only Blazers player to make multiple three-pointers, finishing with 3-of-10 from long distance. Jerami Grant also struggled, shooting 1-of-6 from three-point range.
What's Next?
The Timberwolves will return to action on Saturday, November 16, when they host the Utah Jazz. The Blazers will also be back in action on Saturday, when they travel to Los Angeles to face the Clippers.
