Wanted suspect apprehended in Monroe County following pursuit

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office apprehended a wanted suspect following a pursuit on Tuesday, August 9, 2023. The suspect, 25-year-old John Doe, was wanted on multiple felony warrants, including assault with a deadly weapon and fleeing and eluding.
Pursuit and Apprehension
Deputies attempted to stop Doe's vehicle on Highway 101 near Old Stage Road. Doe failed to yield and led deputies on a pursuit that reached speeds of over 100 mph.
During the pursuit, Doe drove recklessly, endangering other motorists. He also attempted to ram a deputy's patrol car.
The pursuit ended when Doe's vehicle crashed into a ditch near Old Creek Road. Doe was taken into custody without further incident.
Charges and Investigation
Doe was booked into the Monroe County Jail on the outstanding warrants. Additional charges, including felony evading and reckless driving, are pending.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate the incident.
