Cameron Menzies has revealed he will call in sick to his sales job as he continues to celebrate winning the Grand Slam of Darts.

An emotional Menzies, 34, fought back from 14-16 down to beat world No.1 Gerwyn Price 16-18 in a match that finished at 5.30am.

The victory, which is Menzies' first major PDC title, saw him scoop the £125,000 first prize and secure a place in next year's Premier League.

"I've got to savor this now," Menzies said. "I'll worry about work tomorrow.

"I'm absolutely buzzing. It was mental up there. The crowd were amazing and that's what got me over the line.

"I'm going to have a few beers and celebrate with my mates. I'll probably call in sick to work tomorrow."

Menzies, who only qualified for the tournament on Tuesday, produced a brilliant performance to defeat Price.

He averaged 100.68, hit 11 180s and landed a 50% checkout success.

Price, who was bidding to win the Grand Slam for the second time, averaged 98.66, hit 13 180s and landed a 44% checkout success.

The match was a tight affair throughout, with both players trading blows.

Menzies took the lead at 10-8, but Price hit back to level at 10-10.

Menzies then won the next two legs to move 12-10 ahead, but Price again hit back to level at 12-12.

The match went to a deciding leg, with Menzies holding his nerve to hit a double 10 to secure the victory.

Menzies' victory is a remarkable achievement, given that he only turned professional in 2020.

He has now won three PDC titles, including the Players Championship 30 in 2021 and the World Cup of Darts with John Henderson in 2023.
