Fire FC Appoints Former SKC Exec to Lead Technical Staff

Chicago Fire FC have appointed Gregg Broughton as their new Sporting Director, the club announced Tuesday. Broughton joins the Fire after spending the past five seasons as Sporting Director for Sporting Kansas City.

As Sporting Director, Broughton will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Fire's technical staff, including player acquisition, development, and scouting. He will also work closely with Head Coach Ezra Hendrickson to implement the club's playing philosophy and achieve its sporting objectives.

Broughton Brings Wealth of Experience to Chicago

Broughton brings a wealth of experience to Chicago, having worked in various roles within the soccer industry for over 20 years. Prior to his time at Sporting Kansas City, Broughton held positions with the Vancouver Whitecaps, Seattle Sounders, and US Soccer.

During his tenure with Sporting Kansas City, Broughton played a key role in the club's success, helping them win the US Open Cup in 2017 and 2020. He also oversaw the development of several young players who have gone on to represent the United States at the international level.
