Drone helps in arrest of wanted Racine man who fled police on I-90/94 near Tomah
A 30-year-old Racine man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading Wisconsin State Patrol Troopers on a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 90/94 near Tomah. The man was wanted on numerous felony warrants out of Racine County.
The pursuit began at about 12:45 p.m. when a trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding on I-90/94 near Tomah. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit continued eastbound on I-90/94, reaching speeds of up to 110 miles per hour. The man eventually exited the interstate at County Highway A and continued fleeing.
A drone was then deployed by the Wisconsin State Patrol to assist in the pursuit. The drone was able to locate the man's vehicle and provide real-time updates to troopers on the ground.
With the assistance of the drone, troopers were able to apprehend the man without incident. He was taken into custody at about 1:30 p.m. and transported to the Monroe County Jail.
The man was wanted on several felony warrants out of Racine County, including charges of armed robbery, aggravated battery, and fleeing an officer.
