FGCU Men's Hoops Prepares for Home Opener Against St. Bonaventure
Bonnies Visit Alico Arena Wednesday Night
The Florida Gulf Coast University men's basketball team will hold their home opener on Wednesday, November 9th, at 7:00 p.m. ET against the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
The Eagles are coming off a 20-12 season in which they won the ASUN Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in school history.
The Bonnies finished 23-9 last season and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018.
Eagles Look to Build on Last Season's Success
The Eagles will be led by senior guard Caleb Catto, who was named the ASUN Player of the Year last season.
Catto averaged 16.1 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game last season.
Other key players for the Eagles include senior forward Cyrus Largie, junior guard Isaiah Thompson, and sophomore forward Carlos Rosario.
Bonnies Boast Experienced Roster
The Bonnies will be led by senior guard Kyle Lofton, who was named to the All-Atlantic 10 First Team last season.
Lofton averaged 16.5 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game last season.
Other key players for the Bonnies include senior forward Osuna, junior guard Dominick Welch, and sophomore guard Jalen Adaway.
Matchup to Feature Two of the Best Mid-Major Programs
The matchup between FGCU and St. Bonaventure is expected to be a competitive one.
Both teams are coming off strong seasons and have a lot of talent on their rosters.
The game will be a good test for both teams as they prepare for the upcoming season.
