Mavericks fall to Trojans in non-conference matchup
Texas-Arlington (1-2) vs. Southern California (3-0)
The Texas-Arlington Mavericks fell to the Southern California Trojans 78-66 on Tuesday night in a non-conference matchup at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
The Mavericks were led by senior guard David Azore, who scored 19 points. Senior forward Shahada Wells added 12 points and eight rebounds, while junior guard Kyron Gibson chipped in 11 points.
The Trojans were led by senior guard Boogie Ellis, who scored 20 points. Senior forward Drew Peterson added 15 points and nine rebounds, while junior guard Kobe Johnson chipped in 14 points.
The Mavericks shot just 38.3% from the field, including 28.6% from three-point range. The Trojans shot 50.0% from the field, including 36.4% from three-point range.
The Mavericks were outrebounded by the Trojans 39-29. The Mavericks also committed 14 turnovers, while the Trojans committed just 7.
The Mavericks will return to action on Friday, November 18, when they host the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks at the College Park Center in Arlington, Texas.
The Trojans will return to action on Saturday, November 19, when they host the Cal State Fullerton Titans at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
