Tornado warnings issued as severe weather barrels through Southern Ontario
Several tornado warnings have been issued across Southern Ontario as a powerful storm system brings severe weather to the region.
Environment Canada has issued tornado warnings for the following areas:
- Brant County
- Oxford County
- Perth County
- Wellington County
- Waterloo Region
- Grey County
The storm is expected to bring heavy rain, strong winds, and possible tornadoes. Environment Canada is urging residents to take shelter immediately if a tornado warning is issued for their area. The storm is expected to move across the province throughout the day and into the evening.
In Fergus, Ontario, a tornado warning was issued shortly after 3 p.m. ET. The tornado warning was later lifted, but the storm continues to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the area.
Residents are being urged to stay indoors and away from windows. If you are outside, seek shelter in a sturdy building or a basement. Do not drive into flooded areas.
